Blind cave tetra 3cm
Blind Cave Tetra (Astyanax mexicanus) is a fish from the Characiformes order and Characidae family. They originate from Mexico and are found mainly in Mexico. However, it is widely distributed all through Mexico to other parts of the World. They can be found in almost all kinds of habitat, ranging from flowing streams to ponds, from rivers to lakes. And the blind form occurs in underground caves and caverns.
This Blind Cave Tetra species are perfectly maintained when they are in a group of at least 6 of their types. They develop well when they are in a dark substrate and a form of a rocky-like aquarium. These fish are capable of jumping from an open tank; thus, it is essential that the tank is covered.
Blind Cave Tetras feed on micropellets, brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp among others. They should be housed in a Blind Cave Tetra species-only aquarium as they can disturb smaller fish of other species.
