Bristlenose Catfish 10-12cm

Cooranbong Aquatics

The Bristlenose Catfish gets its name because of the small bristles or projections lining its head, face, and mouth, which may sound and look bizarre but makes for some fascinating viewing. They generally like to camouflage, hide, and sit idle, having the ability to blend in astonishingly well with its environment. These are a nocturnal species so they are most active at night.

The great thing about Bristlenose fishes is that not only are they not tough to look after, but they also look after your tank by eating up any algae that is growing in the corners, on the walls, on the floors, or on the decorations. A good diet for them is a combination of algae wafer or Repashy super green, blood worms and a good sinking pellet. This will give them a love variety in there diet to they get all the nutrients they need. You can also feed zucchini to your Bristlenose if you looking for a cheaper alternative.

Bristlenose are also fairly easy to breed which makes them and excellent fish for a beginner hobbyist to breed. But beware once they start you will have a supply of babies on tap.
