Blue Gourami 7cm
The Blue Gourami (scientifically named Trichogaster trichopterus) has a reputation of being amongst the world’s most hardy fishes. Different from the three spot gourami, the Blue Gourami have only spots located at the centre of their body and at the beginning of the tale (the caudal pentacle). Experts have suggested that the third spot for a Blue Gourami is located infact in their eye, and it tends to change with changes in their emotion. The Blue Gourami occurs mainly throughout southeast Asia. There is a high concentration of its kind in the Mekong River Basin located in southern China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam. In accommodating a Blue Gourami, it is important you match them with Tetras, Loaches, Mollies, Scavenger Catfish and Platies, this is because the Blue Gourami is considerably territorial and aggressive.
Blue Gouramis will give you no problems in terms of diet as they are incredibly easy to feed, they can take virtually any food from freeze-dried and live foods to flakes. Ensure that your tank size is not below 20 gallons and that the water medium has a pH range within 6 – 8 and a temperature range of 23–28 degrees Celsius.
