The dwarf Blyxa is a popular aquatic plant, found in many aquariums, as a result of its attractive, grassy and bushy nature. It is recognized very popularly as the bamboo plant. With sufficient lighting, the dwarf blyxa develops a bright look of golden and reddish hues. The lighting of the water tank should be high and intense ranging as high as 2 - 4 watts per gallon with the injection of CO2. For the best result, it is important that there is good water chemistry in the tank with a pH of 5.0 - 7.0. The water hardness should be 2-12 dGH, and the temperature is best between 73.4 – 80.60F (23 – 27 0C). It should be well fertilized with the application of nitrate, phosphate, potassium, and micronutrient supplementation. Dwarf blyxa can grow about 20 cm tall. It is best as a foreground plant and can also do well, mid-ground if planted in a small aquarium.
