The Ellioti cichlid (scientifically named Thorichthys ellioti) is a clearly beautiful fish that belongs to the cichlid family. The Ellioti cichlid or Spot check Cichlid is a typically mild fish with a calm demeanour, its adult can grow to be up to 6 inches long depending on how favourable the environmental conditions are. The Ellioti cichlid is average sized, but you must note that they get bullied easily and so must not be kept in the same space with larger sized fishes. Much like the angelfish and discus, the Ellioti cichlid exhibits care towards their young and newly hatched as is common with other species in the cichlid family, proper management of the Ellioti cichlid would require a tank size of atleast 80 liters (or 25 gallons), a medium temperature range of 22 C - 26 C and a tank that is softly padded with sand and vegetation, with little-hidden corners for them to dwell.
The Ellioti Cichlid are omnivores and are as such receptive to a wide range of feed; they will enjoy almost any meal ranging from flake food to pellets. You are encouraged to grind or crush large feed to small so that they can feed on it as they won’t if it’s too big.
